"What happy days we have known." That quote from Penny Dreadful (the TV show) always moves me quite deeply. It encompasses so much by saying so little. I feel its weight every time I say it, and the music that accompanied the scene when it was first spoken starts playing in my head. The nostalgic and melancholic overtones overwhelm me with such tender emotion.
As I walk around this city (Mexico City), and visit its old museums, with the woman I love, I can't help but acknowledge how lucky I am. At all times. Every bar we visit, every coffee we drink, and every play we see acquires new significance because of her company. And then the quote is remembered again, and the music starts playing again and it feels as if the ghosts start to dance around me.
These moments of profound connection and shared experience elevate the mundane into the extraordinary, transforming ordinary days into a tapestry of cherished memories. In her presence, I find a sense of completeness, a quiet joy that permeates every interaction and every glance. The city itself becomes a backdrop for our story, its vibrant energy mirroring the passion and excitement we share. As the quote lingers in my mind, I realize that these happy days are not just remnants of the past but are continuously unfolding in the present, shaped by our love and the beautiful life we are building together.
