Through living, we understand the context the past carries with him, also how brittle it may be. Our singular experience of life only comes with one point of view, regardless of how sympathetic we are, but because of that, we should strive to know more. Know more about people and their struggles, know about history and how it moulded us, know about art and how it shaped us, know about everything you can from what came before and try to understand it from a different point of view each time.

The future is constantly a tenebrous place to wander in, we are weary of it, even though we plan too much for it. That may be why we linger so much on the past, on the safe things that were, and on the understanding of what was. Maybe that should entice our focus on the present, on what is, and provide context for what will be. Maybe by living more on today, we might be less frightful of tomorrow.

I believe we all have regrets, and throughout our lives, we will continue to do so. Not because we lack decisiveness, but due to an innate lack of foresight about life. We can’t know if our choices are right or wrong, and it is not until the future that we realize the outcome. I think that understanding that the choice you made at a certain point, was the thing you most wanted at that time, is what makes all the difference... And now you’re someone else, who wants different things, who would make different choices, who would pick opposite to who you were. But know who you were, understand him or her or they, because they made the best choice they could… and now, they’re you.
