The War on Drugs concert at the Teatro Metropolitan.
Monday, July 03, 2023Yesterday, I went to The War on Drugs concert at the Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City.
The whole time, I kept thinking about how I wrote the film "Deseosos de todo al mismo tiempo" with this music and how the friendship I developed with my crew stemmed from that film. It encompasses many of the themes I explore in it, some of which are sad and others happy. But everything was guided by the rhythm the music set... and it was this music.
The theater lobby turned into a bar, where everyone was milling around in anticipation of the concert. The opening band's music filled the space, mingling with the small groups of people scattered throughout. There was an electric atmosphere, a collective sense of excitement and camaraderie among the concert-goers. It felt like we were all part of something special, united by our love for the music.
As the main act took the stage, the energy in the room surged. The familiar chords and hauntingly beautiful melodies washed over me, transporting me back to the countless hours spent writing and creating with my team. Each song resonated deeply, evoking memories of late-night brainstorming sessions, laughter, and the occasional tear. It was a powerful reminder of the journey we had shared and the bond we had forged through our creative endeavors.
The concert was more than just a musical experience; it was a moment of reflection and gratitude. I felt a profound connection to the music and to the people who had been part of my journey. As the final notes echoed through the theater, I knew that this night would be etched in my memory, a beautiful testament to the power of music and the enduring impact of friendship and collaboration.
